DarkGate reloaded via malvertising and SEO poisoning campaigns
Trojan.DarkGate is Malwarebytes' detection name for a family of loader Trojans targetting Windows systems.
Trojan.DarkGate is a Trojan downloader. DarkGate is a downloader used by threat actors to distribute malware on a large scale. Downloaders are often the first stage of infection. They are usually small and pre-programmed to download and start other malicious files.
Trojan.DarkGate is typically distributed via links in phishing emails, but alternative methods have been reported.
Malwarebytes blocks the C2 servers and the IPs and domains found to be hosting malware. The detected files are scripts and attachments used in the distribution methods.
Malwarebytes can detect and remove Trojan.DarkGate without further user interaction.
You can use the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Nebula console to scan endpoints.
Choose the Scan + Quarantine option. Afterwards you can check the Detections page to see which threats were found. On the Quarantine page you can see which threats were quarantined and restore them if necessary.
