Seventeen years after its founding, the same person that wrote the first iteration of code, Marcin Kleczynski, is still leading the company. 

Like many teenagers in the early 2000s, Marcin downloaded files from a file sharing site and discovered that the family computer was infected with a virus. With the help of an online forum community, he created the first version of the Malwarebytes software to safely scrub the virus from his computer and help others in a similar situation. That community shaped the founding of the company and continues to be a driving force today. 

Since then, Malwarebytes has evolved from a device cleaner to proactive malware monitoring and web traffic protection, to providing safety and peace of mind beyond devices with identity protection tools.
