OSX.MacStealer is Malwarebytes’ detection name for an information stealer that targets systems running macOS.

Type and source of infection

OSX.MacStealer tries to steal credentials from the affected systems that are stored in the iCloud KeyChain, web browsers, cryptocurrency wallets, and other potentially sensitive files.

The victims is tricked into executing an unsigned DMG file. At that point it displays a bogus password prompt in an attempt to steal their real password.

Download and install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Mac.
