Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free is one of the top user-installed security software worldwide!
According to OPSWAT’s January report, MBAM Free is the second most installed product, when those not providing real-time protection are taken into account. Only MSE, which comes free as part of the Windows OS, has a higher number of total installs.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was formerly classified as an antispyware software, but is now included in the antivirus vendor market share for the very first time.
First and foremost, we want to thank our fans and supporters. Thank you guys so much! Thank you for spreading the Malwarebytes love.
Everyone here at Malwarebytes couldn’t be happier about this news and will continue to work hard to keep all this up.
OPSWAT is the most thorough AV market share study available publicly and is updated regularly. Their periodic market share report regularly publishes AV market share figures based on detection of installed apps on their user base.
In terms of real-time protection, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO also claims a significant market share. MBAM PRO is installed by more users than popular paid-for products such as AVG Internet Security, Kaspersky Internet Security, McAfee VirusScan, Norton360 and Avast! Internet Security.
OPSWAT also had to a create section dedicated to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free and PRO (because we’re special! At least that’s what I’m telling my friends and family).
Because MBAM is unique in the antivirus market in that we’re a great supplemental security product, this new section illustrates how our consumers are using both their regular AV solution as well as MBAM to be better protected against the threats missed by traditional AVs.
From OPSWAT’s report: “Compared to other antivirus products, Malwarebytes users are much more likely to have more than one product installed on their machines. Among Malwarebytes users, more than 93% have another product installed… This indicates that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro are largely used as supplemental products to add additional security to a protected device.”
